Smart Metering
Smart Metering replaces manual meter checking with connected, measurable utility data. Electricity, water and other compatible utility meters can be monitored centrally, giving property owners and facility teams a clearer view of consumption across buildings, tenants and individual areas.

Electrical smart meters can monitor energy consumption together with parameters such as voltage, current, power, power factor and demand, depending on the selected meter. Metering can be installed at the main incomer, distribution board, tenant or individual equipment level.
Water metering can also be integrated using compatible pulse-output or communication-enabled meters. This allows water-consumption information from different areas to be collected and displayed through a central monitoring platform.
For multi-tenant properties, sub-metering provides individual consumption visibility instead of relying only on the property's main utility meter. Any use of this information for tenant billing should follow the property's approved commercial and utility arrangements.
Automatic Meter Reading reduces the need to visit individual meter locations. Readings can be collected through wired or networked communication and presented on dashboards for monitoring, reporting and historical comparison.
Smart Metering becomes particularly useful when connected to an Energy Management System. Meter data can be analysed over time to identify unusual consumption, peak demand and areas that may require operational investigation.
Depending on the project, AZTÖR can integrate meters using Modbus, M-Bus, BACnet or pulse interfaces together with suitable gateways. The communication method is selected according to the meter type, distance, existing infrastructure and wider BMS architecture.
Existing properties can often be upgraded by adding compatible submeters, communication gateways and monitoring software without replacing the complete electrical or plumbing infrastructure.

Smart Metering should be designed around what needs to be measured and how the data will be used. Electrical load, CT ratio, meter accuracy, water-meter interface, communication distance, panel space, network availability and existing BMS infrastructure should all be checked before equipment selection. Where meter data is intended for commercial or tenant billing, the applicable metering and utility requirements should be verified separately.
