Bi-Folding Gates
Bi-folding gates divide each operating gate leaf into two connected panels that fold together as the entrance opens. This reduces the space required inside the driveway compared with a conventional swing gate while still providing a wide and practical vehicle entrance.
They are particularly useful at UAE properties where entrance width is generous but driveway depth is restricted. Villas, commercial compounds, warehouses, logistics facilities, schools and controlled vehicle entrances can benefit from a bi-fold arrangement where conventional swing leaves would occupy too much usable space.
A typical double bi-folding entrance uses two connected panels on each side, creating four gate panels across the complete opening. Single-sided configurations can also be considered where the entrance geometry requires all folding movement toward one side.
Bi-folding gates should be engineered as a complete mechanical system. Panel dimensions and weight, hinge positions, folding linkages, gate posts, foundations, opening angles and alignment all affect how the panels travel. Small errors in the geometry can become significant once automation is added.
AZTÖR provides a free site inspection before recommending a bi-folding gate configuration. We assess the clear opening, available folding depth, panel dimensions, gate construction, structural posts, driveway slope, vehicle approach, pedestrian movement, wind exposure, operating frequency, power supply and required access controls.
Automatic bi-folding gates use coordinated operators and mechanical folding arrangements to move the connected panels. Depending on the gate design, automation may use appropriate swing-gate operators combined with a purpose-designed folding mechanism or a specialist bi-fold gate automation solution. The exact arrangement must be confirmed for the gate rather than assuming that any conventional swing motor will be suitable.
For suitable projects, AZTÖR can engineer automation around equipment from established manufacturers such as FAAC, CAME, BFT, Nice, Benincà and other technically appropriate gate automation brands available in the UAE and GCC. Operator selection is based on individual panel dimensions, total moving load, hinge geometry, operating frequency and site conditions.
Automatic bi-folding gates can operate from remote transmitters, push buttons, keypads, card readers, biometric readers and intercom systems. UHF vehicle tags, ANPR and compatible smart or GSM access systems can also be incorporated where controlled vehicle identification is required.
Safety requires particular attention around the gate sweep, folding joints and closing areas between panels. Depending on the design and risk assessment, photocells, safety edges, obstacle detection, warning lights and other protective devices can be incorporated around the entrance.
AZTÖR also repairs and modernises existing bi-folding gates. Faults may originate from the automation or from worn hinges, incorrect linkage geometry, damaged rollers or guides, gate misalignment, control-board faults, sensors or structural movement. The complete mechanical gate should therefore be inspected before replacing the motor.
AZTÖR provides bi-folding gate design support, automation, installation, repair and preventive maintenance across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, with suitable commercial and industrial projects supported across the wider GCC.

Bi-folding gate performance depends heavily on correct panel geometry, hinge positioning, folding linkage, structural support and mechanical alignment. AZTÖR confirms the gate configuration, operator capacity, linkage arrangement, controls and safety devices after a free site inspection. Existing bi-fold gates must move freely and fold correctly before automation is installed or replaced.
