Gate Motors

Gate Motors

The gate motor is the heart of an automatic gate system, but choosing the right operator involves much more than matching a motor to the approximate gate weight. Gate type, leaf dimensions, mechanical resistance, operating frequency, wind exposure, opening speed, site environment and required safety functions all influence the correct selection.

AZTÖR supplies, installs, replaces and repairs gate motors for residential, commercial and industrial entrances. Applications include sliding gates, swing gates, cantilever gates, folding and bi-folding gates, trackless systems and heavy-duty vehicle entrances.

For sliding gates, the operator normally drives the gate through a rack-and-pinion arrangement. Motor selection depends on the complete moving gate weight, gate length, condition of the wheels and track or cantilever system, mechanical resistance and expected number of operating cycles.

Swing gates require a different approach. Linear, articulated-arm, underground, hydraulic and other operator configurations are available depending on the gate. Individual leaf length and weight, hinge geometry, post dimensions, opening angle, wind loading and required duty must all be considered before selecting the motor.

AZTÖR provides a free site inspection before recommending a new or replacement gate motor. Rather than immediately replacing a failed operator, we check whether the gate moves correctly, inspect the hinges or wheels, track, guides, rack, gate alignment, structural supports, power supply and existing safety devices.

This mechanical assessment is important because a difficult gate can overload even a correctly sized motor. Replacing an operator without correcting worn wheels, damaged hinges, poor alignment or excessive resistance can lead to repeated motor, gearbox or control-board failures.

AZTÖR works with established gate automation manufacturers including FAAC, CAME, BFT, Nice and Benincà, together with other technically suitable brands available for UAE and GCC applications. We can recommend an appropriate system for a new project or identify suitable replacement options for existing automation.

Gate operators are available for different levels of use. A villa gate opening a limited number of times per day has very different requirements from a warehouse, residential community, staff entrance or logistics facility operating repeatedly throughout the day. For higher-cycle applications, the operator and control system must be selected for the required commercial or industrial duty.

A complete automatic gate installation can include more than the motor. Control boards, remote receivers, transmitters, photocells, safety edges, warning lights, electric locks, loop detectors, backup arrangements and manual release systems can be incorporated according to the gate and site requirements.

Gate motors can also be connected to access-control systems. AZTÖR integrates compatible card readers, biometric readers, keypads, intercoms, video intercoms and smart-access controls. For vehicle entrances, UHF long-range readers and ANPR can be used where suitable to automate authorised vehicle entry.

When an existing gate motor fails, complete replacement is not always necessary. Depending on the brand, condition and spare-part availability, faults involving control boards, capacitors, limit systems, receivers, photocells, gearboxes, encoders or other serviceable components may be repairable.

Where an older operator is obsolete, repeatedly failing or no longer supported with practical spare parts, AZTÖR can modernise the automation while retaining the existing gate where its mechanical condition is suitable.

AZTÖR provides gate motor supply, installation, replacement, repair and preventive maintenance across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, with suitable gate automation support available across the wider GCC.

Gate motors should not be selected from gate weight alone. Gate dimensions, individual leaf length, mechanical resistance, wind exposure, hinge or wheel condition, operating frequency, required speed and site environment can significantly affect operator suitability. AZTÖR confirms the appropriate motor, control system and safety accessories after a free site inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions

AZTÖR supplies and installs suitable motors for sliding, swing, cantilever, folding, bi-folding, trackless and heavy-duty gates according to the entrance and operating requirements.

Yes. AZTÖR provides a free site inspection for applicable gate automation projects to assess the gate mechanics, dimensions, operating frequency, power, safety and access-control requirements.

AZTÖR works with established automation manufacturers including FAAC, CAME, BFT, Nice and Benincà, together with other technically suitable brands available for UAE and GCC applications.

Motor selection depends on more than gate weight. We consider gate dimensions, mechanical resistance, operating frequency, wind exposure, opening geometry and the actual site conditions.

Automatic sliding gates commonly use an operator with a pinion that drives a rack fixed along the moving gate. The operator capacity and duty are selected according to the actual gate.

Depending on the gate geometry, swing gates can use linear, articulated-arm, underground, hydraulic or other compatible operators.

Neither technology is automatically better for every project. Hydraulic systems can suit certain demanding applications, while electromechanical operators are appropriate for many residential, commercial and industrial gates. Selection should be based on the actual gate and duty.

Yes. AZTÖR can provide suitable commercial and industrial operators for warehouses, factories, logistics facilities and other higher-use entrances.

Usually, yes, if the existing gate is mechanically and structurally suitable. We inspect its movement, hinges or wheels, alignment and supporting structure before recommending automation.

Not necessarily. The fault may involve the power supply, control board, capacitor, receiver, limit system, photocells, gearbox or another component. Diagnosis should be completed before deciding on replacement.

Where technically practical and suitable spare parts are available, yes. AZTÖR can repair many operator and control-system faults before recommending complete replacement.

Yes, in many cases. If the gate itself, its hinges or wheels, track, guides and structure remain suitable, the automation can often be replaced without replacing the gate.

Yes. AZTÖR can inspect existing third-party gate automation and recommend repair or replacement subject to equipment condition and compatible spare-part availability.

Repeated failures can result from an undersized operator, excessive gate resistance, damaged wheels or hinges, poor alignment, excessive operating cycles, wind loading, electrical problems or inadequate maintenance.

Not automatically. If the gate has excessive mechanical resistance, installing a larger motor may only hide the underlying problem and place additional stress on the gate. The mechanics should be inspected first.

Yes. Compatible radio receivers and transmitters can provide remote gate operation.

Compatible GSM, smart-access or connected control systems can be integrated where suitable, depending on the selected gate automation and required functionality.

Yes. Compatible audio and video intercom systems can provide visitor communication and authorised gate release.

Yes. Compatible card readers, biometric readers, keypads and access-control platforms can be connected to automatic gate systems.

Yes. UHF long-range identification can provide convenient authorised access for residents, staff and fleet vehicles.

Yes. Compatible ANPR systems can send an authorised opening command through the gate access-control system according to the project design.

Compatible operators normally provide a manual release, while certain systems can support battery or other backup arrangements. The appropriate solution depends on the selected operator and site requirement.

Photocells form part of the gate safety system by detecting an obstruction or presence within configured areas and communicating with the gate controller.

Service frequency depends on usage, gate condition and environment. High-cycle commercial and industrial gates generally require more frequent preventive inspection than low-use residential gates.

Yes. AZTÖR provides preventive maintenance and AMC support for gate motors, control boards, mechanical drive components, photocells, safety devices and related access-control equipment according to the agreed scope.

AZTÖR provides gate motor installation, replacement, repair and maintenance across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, with suitable project support across the wider GCC.
