Swing Gates

Swing Gates

Swing gates provide a traditional and practical solution for controlling vehicle access to villas, residential compounds, commercial properties and secured facilities. One or two gate leaves rotate around side-mounted hinges, creating an entrance that can be designed around the architecture and appearance of the property.

Automatic swing gates are especially popular at UAE villas and residential developments because the automation equipment can be installed discreetly while retaining the appearance of the entrance. They are also used at offices, schools, hotels, staff accommodation, commercial compounds and selected industrial sites.

A swing gate needs sufficient clear space for the leaves to travel safely through their complete opening arc. Before recommending automation, AZTÖR provides a free site inspection to check the entrance width, individual leaf dimensions and weight, hinge condition, gate posts, opening direction, driveway slope, wind exposure, vehicle movement, operating frequency and available power supply.

Depending on the gate construction and site geometry, automation can use articulated-arm, linear, underground or other suitable swing gate operators. Underground operators are often considered where architectural appearance is important, while above-ground operators can provide a practical and serviceable solution for many residential and commercial entrances.

Motor selection should be based on the individual gate leaf rather than simply the overall entrance width. Leaf length and weight, hinge geometry, wind resistance, required opening angle, daily operating frequency and mechanical condition all influence the force required from the automation system.

AZTÖR works with established swing gate automation manufacturers including FAAC, CAME, BFT, Nice, Benincà and other suitable brands available for UAE and GCC projects. The operator and control system are selected around the actual gate rather than using one standard motor for every entrance.

Automatic swing gates can operate through remote transmitters, push buttons, keypads, card readers, biometric readers, intercoms and compatible smart-access systems. Residential communities and commercial sites can also integrate suitable UHF vehicle identification, ANPR or other authorised vehicle-access systems where required.

Safety is particularly important because each gate leaf creates a moving sweep area. Depending on the entrance and risk assessment, photocells, safety edges, obstacle detection, warning lights and other protective devices can be incorporated. Vehicle stopping positions and pedestrian movement around the gate should also be considered during system design.

Existing manual swing gates can often be automated if the leaves, hinges, posts and foundations remain structurally suitable and the gates move freely. AZTÖR also repairs existing automatic systems, including motors, arms, underground operators, control boards, photocells, remotes, locks and mechanical gate problems.

AZTÖR provides swing gate supply, automation, installation, repair and preventive maintenance across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, with suitable residential, commercial and industrial gate projects supported across the wider GCC.

Swing gate automation must be selected according to each gate leaf's length, weight, construction, hinge geometry, opening angle, wind exposure and operating frequency. AZTÖR confirms the appropriate operator, mounting arrangement, controls and safety devices after a free site inspection. Existing gates should be mechanically sound and move correctly before automation is installed.

Frequently Asked Questions

A swing gate uses one or two hinged leaves that rotate inward or outward to open the vehicle entrance. It can be manually operated or fitted with automatic gate operators.

Yes. AZTÖR provides a free site inspection for applicable swing gate projects to check the opening, gate dimensions, leaf weight, hinges, posts, driveway, opening direction, power and automation requirements.

Depending on the gate and application, AZTÖR works with established manufacturers including FAAC, CAME, BFT, Nice, Benincà and other suitable gate automation brands available in the UAE and GCC.

Often, yes. The gate leaves, hinges, posts, foundations, opening space and mechanical movement must first be inspected to confirm that the existing gate is suitable for automation.

It depends on the gate. Linear, articulated-arm and underground operators suit different gate dimensions, hinge positions, opening angles and architectural requirements. AZTÖR selects the operator after assessing the actual entrance.

An underground operator is installed below the gate hinge area in a foundation box. It provides discreet automation and is often considered for premium entrances where keeping visible equipment to a minimum is important.

They can be, provided drainage, foundation preparation, environmental exposure and future service access are properly considered. The site should be assessed before choosing an underground system.

Technically some configurations can, but the gate must not create an unsafe obstruction or conflict with the approved property boundary, pedestrian route or road area. Opening direction is confirmed according to the actual site.

Yes. Double-leaf gates can use coordinated operators, with the control system managing the opening and closing sequence of each leaf.

Many compatible control systems can be programmed to open only one leaf for pedestrian access, depending on the operator and entrance configuration.

Yes. Remote transmitters are commonly used for residential and commercial gates, together with other authorised access methods where required.

Compatible GSM or smart-access systems can provide authorised mobile gate control. The appropriate method depends on the required number of users and access-management requirements.

Yes. Suitable systems can integrate with card readers, biometric readers, keypads, intercoms, UHF readers, ANPR and other compatible access-control technologies.

Appropriate safety devices should be selected according to the entrance and risk assessment. Photocells can help detect vehicles or pedestrians in critical areas, while additional protection may be required around the gate's sweep and crushing zones.

Possible causes include mechanical resistance, hinge problems, incorrect limits, operator adjustment, control settings, sensor activation or motor problems. The mechanical gate and automation system should both be inspected.

Double swing gates normally use programmed sequencing. Incorrect settings, mechanical resistance, motor issues or control faults can affect the timing and should be diagnosed before adjustment.

Compatible swing gate operators provide a manual release mechanism so the gate can be disengaged when necessary. Battery or backup-power solutions may also be available for selected systems.

Yes. AZTÖR can inspect many existing gate automation systems regardless of the original installer, subject to equipment condition and availability of compatible parts.

Yes, in many cases. If the gate leaves, hinges, posts and foundations remain suitable, the existing automation can often be replaced or modernised without changing the complete gate.

Yes. AZTÖR provides maintenance for motors, arms, underground operators, hinges, control boards, photocells, locks, remotes and gate alignment according to the agreed service scope.

AZTÖR provides swing gate automation, installation, repair and maintenance across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, with suitable project support across the wider GCC.
