Trackless Gates

Trackless Gates

Trackless gates provide controlled vehicle access without requiring a conventional sliding rail to run across the clear driveway. This keeps the main vehicle path free from an exposed ground track and can provide a cleaner, more practical entrance for selected residential, commercial and industrial properties.

In UAE conditions, eliminating a driveway track can be particularly useful at entrances exposed to sand, dust, stones, frequent vehicle movement or heavy site traffic. The absence of a conventional rail across the opening also reduces one common source of obstruction and track-related maintenance.

The term “trackless gate” can describe different engineered gate arrangements rather than one universal mechanism. Depending on the entrance, the solution may use a cantilever sliding system or another purpose-designed trackless configuration. AZTÖR therefore assesses the actual site before deciding which mechanism is technically appropriate.

For cantilever-style trackless gates, the moving gate is supported from the side using a specialised profile and roller-carriage system rather than wheels travelling over a rail across the entrance. An extended counterbalance section is normally required, which means sufficient side run-back space is essential.

Other specialist trackless configurations may use manufacturer-specific guidance, folding or self-supporting mechanisms. These should be selected as complete engineered systems rather than removing the ground track from a conventional sliding gate and expecting it to operate correctly.

AZTÖR provides a free site inspection before recommending a trackless gate. We assess the clear opening, available side space, gate dimensions and weight, structural supports, foundation requirements, ground conditions, vehicle traffic, wind exposure, operating frequency, power availability and required access-control functions.

For automatic operation, the motor and drive arrangement are selected according to the actual gate mechanism, complete moving weight, mechanical resistance and required duty. Residential entrances and high-cycle warehouse or industrial gates require different levels of automation.

For suitable automatic configurations, AZTÖR works with established gate automation manufacturers including FAAC, CAME, BFT, Nice, Benincà and other technically appropriate brands available for UAE and GCC projects. The automation is matched to the engineered gate rather than selecting a motor independently of the mechanical design.

Automatic trackless gates can integrate with remote transmitters, keypads, card readers, biometric readers, intercoms and compatible smart-access systems. Commercial and industrial entrances can also incorporate UHF long-range readers, ANPR, loop detectors and central vehicle-access platforms where required.

Safety devices are selected around the actual gate movement. Depending on the configuration and risk assessment, the system can include photocells, safety edges, obstacle detection, warning lights, vehicle detectors and emergency release arrangements.

AZTÖR can also inspect existing trackless and cantilever gate systems for problems involving operators, drive racks, roller carriages, guide rollers, alignment, foundations, control boards, sensors and access-control equipment. Mechanical resistance should always be corrected before increasing motor force or replacing an operator.

AZTÖR provides trackless gate installation, automation, repair and preventive maintenance across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, with suitable residential, commercial and industrial projects supported across the wider GCC.

“Trackless gate” is a broad market term and does not represent one standard mechanical system. The correct configuration depends on the opening, available side space, gate dimensions and weight, foundations, wind exposure, operating frequency and required duty. AZTÖR confirms whether a cantilever or another suitable trackless arrangement is appropriate after a free site inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions

A trackless gate provides vehicle access without a conventional sliding rail running across the clear driveway. Cantilever gates are one of the most common engineered trackless configurations.

Not always. Cantilever gates are an important type of trackless sliding gate, but “trackless gate” is also used more broadly for specialist gate systems that avoid a conventional driveway rail.

Yes. AZTÖR provides a free site inspection for applicable trackless gate projects to assess the opening, side space, gate dimensions, foundations, traffic, environmental conditions, power and automation requirements.

The clear vehicle route has no conventional sliding rail crossing it. This can reduce problems caused by sand, stones, dirt and physical damage around a driveway track.

Yes, when correctly engineered. Avoiding a conventional ground rail can be useful at entrances exposed to sand, dust and frequent vehicle traffic, although the remaining gate mechanics still require appropriate maintenance.

Yes. Cantilever and other self-supporting configurations transfer substantial loads into their supporting structure, so correctly designed foundations are particularly important.

Cantilever configurations normally require additional run-back space because the gate includes a counterbalance section beyond the clear opening. The required space depends on the selected system and entrance width.

Yes. Suitable systems can be automated using an operator matched to the gate mechanism, complete moving weight, operating frequency and site conditions.

Depending on the gate configuration, AZTÖR works with suitable equipment from manufacturers such as FAAC, CAME, BFT, Nice, Benincà and other established gate automation brands available in the UAE and GCC.

It may be possible, but it is normally a significant mechanical change rather than a simple track removal. Gate length, counterbalance, structure, foundations and supporting system may all need redesign.

Yes. They can provide a clean vehicle entrance for villas where sufficient side space and suitable foundations are available.

Yes. Cantilever and other appropriate trackless systems can be useful for warehouse and logistics entrances where frequent vehicle traffic makes a ground rail undesirable.

The absence of a ground track can be beneficial for heavy-vehicle routes. The gate structure, foundations, automation and safety equipment must still be engineered for the actual opening and operating duty.

Yes. Automatic systems can be operated using remote transmitters, push buttons and other authorised control methods.

Yes. Suitable systems can integrate with card readers, biometric readers, keypads, intercoms and compatible central access-control platforms.

Yes. Long-range UHF readers can identify authorised vehicles for residential, staff, fleet and commercial access applications.

Yes. Compatible ANPR systems can communicate with the gate control system to provide authorised number-plate-based vehicle access.

Yes. Loop detectors or other compatible vehicle-detection technologies can be incorporated for appropriate opening, presence or safety functions.

Depending on the gate and entrance, photocells, safety edges, obstacle detection, vehicle detectors and warning devices can be incorporated to protect the gate's movement areas.

Possible causes include worn carriage rollers, incorrect adjustment, structural distortion, guide problems or foundation movement. The mechanical system should be inspected before changing the motor settings.

Yes. AZTÖR can inspect suitable existing systems for mechanical, automation, control and safety faults, subject to equipment condition and availability of compatible parts.

Yes. Maintenance can cover motors, drive racks, roller carriages, guides, alignment, control boards, photocells, safety devices and access-control equipment according to the agreed scope.

AZTÖR provides trackless gate installation, automation, repair and maintenance across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, with suitable project support across the wider GCC.
