People Counting
People Counting uses AI-enabled cameras and video analytics to measure how many people enter, leave or move through a defined area. It provides useful occupancy and visitor-flow information without relying on manual counting.

At entrances and exits, suitable cameras can count people moving in each direction and provide separate entry and exit statistics. This data can be used to understand visitor traffic, peak periods and occupancy levels.
Different technologies are available depending on the site. These include AI video cameras, overhead counting cameras, dual-lens or stereoscopic cameras and 3D people-counting sensors. The correct technology depends on entrance width, mounting height, crowd density and required accuracy.
For retail and shopping environments, People Counting can help management compare visitor traffic between locations, understand busy periods and evaluate conversion or operational trends when integrated with suitable business systems.
Occupancy Monitoring can calculate the number of people currently inside a defined area by comparing entry and exit counts. Suitable platforms can display live occupancy and generate alerts when configured thresholds are reached.

People Counting accuracy depends on more than camera resolution. Mounting height, entrance width, viewing angle, lighting, crowd density, overlapping people and the selected counting technology all influence performance. For high-traffic entrances, dedicated overhead or 3D counting technology may be more appropriate than a general CCTV camera.
