GSM Controllers
GSM controllers provide a practical way to operate automatic gates and barriers using a mobile phone. Connected to a compatible gate or barrier control system, the GSM unit receives an authorised cellular command and activates the configured entrance without requiring every user to carry a conventional radio remote.
For many properties, the main advantage is user management. Authorised mobile numbers can be added or removed from the controller according to the selected model, making GSM access useful for residential communities, villas, staff entrances, offices, warehouses, commercial compounds and other locations where access permissions change over time.
A common configuration uses authorised caller identification. When a registered number calls the controller, the system recognises the caller and sends a relay command to the gate automation. Depending on the selected device and configuration, the call may be rejected or handled without requiring a normal voice conversation, although the exact operation is product and network dependent.
GSM controllers can also provide SMS-based commands or other cellular functions on compatible models. More advanced products may support remote configuration, event notifications, user administration or mobile-data connectivity. These functions vary significantly between manufacturers, so AZTÖR specifies only the features supported by the selected controller.
AZTÖR can integrate GSM access with sliding gates, swing gates, cantilever gates, folding and bi-folding gates, trackless gates, suitable industrial gates and automatic barriers. The existing automation must provide a compatible control input or an appropriate interface for the GSM controller.
A free site inspection is available for applicable installations. AZTÖR checks the existing gate operator, control board, available input terminals, power supply, enclosure location, cellular signal, number of required users, access procedure and any existing access-control equipment before recommending a controller.
Reliable mobile-network coverage at the installation location is important. Equipment should not be selected simply because it is described as a “GSM opener.” The supported cellular technology, SIM requirements and network compatibility need to suit the current telecommunications service available at the project location.
This is particularly important as cellular networks evolve. Older controllers designed only for legacy network technologies may not be appropriate for every new installation. For new projects, AZTÖR checks the current device and network requirements rather than assuming that an older GSM controller remains the best option.
Depending on the controller, authorised-user lists may range from a relatively small number of users to much larger databases suitable for communities, staff facilities or commercial properties. User capacity should therefore be selected around the expected number of authorised people and how frequently permissions need to change.
GSM access can operate as a standalone method or alongside other entrance controls. A gate can retain its remote transmitters and guard-house controls while also accepting GSM commands. Card readers, keypads, intercoms, UHF vehicle identification or ANPR can also form part of a wider access-control solution where required.
Security depends on correct configuration. User administration should be restricted to authorised personnel, obsolete numbers should be removed promptly, and the controller, SIM and electrical enclosure should be protected against unauthorised physical access.
AZTÖR also troubleshoots existing GSM gate controllers. Common problems include a gate no longer responding to authorised calls, SIM or network issues, poor signal, power-supply faults, relay problems, incorrect user programming, damaged wiring or faults between the GSM unit and gate control board.
AZTÖR provides GSM gate controller installation, replacement, configuration and troubleshooting across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, with suitable gate access-control support available across the wider GCC.

GSM controller features vary considerably between manufacturers and models. Network technology, SIM compatibility, user capacity, programming method, relay outputs and remote-management functions must be confirmed before installation. AZTÖR checks the gate controller, cellular coverage and required number of users during a free site inspection and recommends a suitable current-generation solution for the application.
