Heavy Duty Sliding Gates
Heavy-duty sliding gates are designed for large vehicle entrances where gate size, weight, operating frequency and site conditions demand more robust construction and automation than a typical residential gate system. They are commonly used at warehouses, logistics facilities, factories, industrial compounds, distribution centres and secured commercial sites.
In an industrial environment, motor capacity alone does not make a gate heavy duty. The gate frame, wheels or cantilever support, track, guide system, drive rack, foundations, operator, control panel and safety devices must work together as one properly engineered system.
AZTÖR provides a free site inspection before recommending a heavy-duty sliding gate or automation package. We assess the clear opening, complete gate dimensions and estimated weight, gate construction, available run-back space, track or cantilever arrangement, foundations, vehicle type, daily operating frequency, wind exposure, power supply and required security functions.
Tracked heavy-duty sliding gates use industrial wheels travelling over a properly installed ground track. Where keeping the vehicle path free of a ground rail is important, an engineered cantilever arrangement may be considered. The appropriate configuration depends on the opening, available side space, gate structure, foundations and operating environment.
Large gates can create substantial wind resistance, particularly when solid or partially enclosed gate designs are used. Gate weight and opening width therefore cannot be considered in isolation. AZTÖR reviews the gate infill, exposed surface area, site orientation and structural condition when selecting the automation and mechanical arrangement.
For automatic operation, the industrial gate operator is selected according to the complete moving gate weight, mechanical resistance, expected cycles, required operating speed and environmental conditions. Higher-use entrances may require operators designed for intensive or continuous commercial duty rather than oversized residential equipment.
AZTÖR works with established gate automation manufacturers including FAAC, CAME, BFT, Nice, Benincà and other suitable industrial automation brands available for UAE and GCC projects. The final operator is selected from the manufacturer's appropriate commercial or industrial range according to the actual gate and duty requirement.
Heavy-duty automatic gates can integrate with security and vehicle-access systems including card readers, biometric readers, keypads, intercoms, UHF long-range readers, ANPR and compatible central access-control platforms. Loop detectors and other vehicle-detection technologies can also be incorporated where required.
Safety becomes increasingly important as gate dimensions and moving mass increase. Depending on the entrance and risk assessment, the installation can incorporate photocells, safety edges, obstacle detection, warning devices, emergency stop controls, vehicle loops and other protective measures around the closing and travel zones.
AZTÖR also diagnoses and repairs existing industrial sliding gates. Common problems include overloaded or failed motors, gearbox wear, damaged drive racks, worn wheels, deteriorated tracks, gate misalignment, control-board faults, defective safety devices and gates that have become mechanically difficult to move.
For an existing heavy gate, installing a larger motor is not automatically the correct repair. Mechanical resistance, wheel condition, track alignment, gate structure and foundations should be checked first. Correcting the mechanical problem can significantly reduce unnecessary load on the automation system.
AZTÖR provides heavy-duty sliding gate installation, automation, retrofit, repair and preventive maintenance across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, with suitable industrial gate projects supported across the wider GCC.

Heavy-duty sliding gate automation must be engineered around the complete moving gate, not selected only from a manufacturer's maximum weight figure. Gate dimensions, structural construction, mechanical resistance, wind loading, operating frequency, required speed and site conditions all affect system selection. AZTÖR confirms the gate mechanics, industrial operator, drive components and safety package after a free site inspection.
