Automatic Folding Doors
Automatic folding doors are designed for entrances where available space makes a conventional sliding or full-width swing door difficult to use. Instead of requiring a long side pocket or a large swing area, the door leaves fold together as the entrance opens, creating a practical automatic passage within a compact footprint.
This makes automatic folding doors particularly useful for healthcare facilities, commercial buildings, retail premises, offices, accessible entrances and refurbishment projects across the UAE. They can also provide an effective solution where an existing structural opening needs to deliver as much usable clear passage as possible without major architectural modification.
The folding mechanism requires more careful engineering than a standard automatic swing door. Leaf dimensions and weight, number of panels, folding direction, hinges, pivots, guides, operator capacity and available stacking space all influence how smoothly and reliably the system will operate.
AZTÖR provides a free site inspection before recommending an automatic folding system. We measure the opening, check the surrounding structure and finished floor, assess pedestrian traffic, determine the required clear passage and review power, access control, safety and operating requirements. For retrofit projects, we also assess whether the existing door construction can reasonably be retained.
Depending on the selected system, automatic folding doors can use two or more coordinated leaves that fold toward one or both sides of the entrance. Framed glass, aluminium and other compatible door constructions can be considered according to the application and manufacturer's system design.
Activation can be provided through radar sensors, touchless switches, push buttons, elbow switches or authorised access-control devices. Presence and safety detection can also be incorporated according to the movement of the folding leaves and the pedestrian area around the entrance.
AZTÖR can work with suitable automatic folding entrance systems from established manufacturers such as ASSA ABLOY, dormakaba, GEZE and other specialist brands where an appropriate folding-door solution is available for the project. The final manufacturer and operator are selected according to the opening geometry, leaf weight, required functionality, traffic and UAE/GCC product availability.
Existing automatic folding doors can also be inspected for problems involving operators, hinges, pivots, guides, sensors, controls, alignment and other moving components. Where the basic door remains serviceable, adjustment or replacement of individual components may be more practical than replacing the complete entrance.
AZTÖR provides automatic folding door installation, retrofit, repair and preventive maintenance across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, with suitable project and technical support available across the wider GCC.

Automatic folding doors are highly dependent on entrance geometry, panel dimensions, leaf weight and folding mechanism. AZTÖR confirms the final configuration, operator, safety devices and hardware after a free site inspection. Manufacturer-specific limits and any accessibility, emergency or certified performance requirements are verified against the selected complete system.
