Heavy Duty Swing Gates
Heavy-duty swing gates are designed for large vehicle entrances where gate dimensions, leaf weight, wind exposure or operating frequency exceed the demands of a typical residential gate. They are commonly used at factories, warehouses, logistics facilities, industrial compounds, government properties and secured commercial sites across the UAE.
A heavy gate needs more than a powerful motor. The gate leaves, posts, hinges, foundations, operator mounting points, locking arrangement, control system and safety devices must work together as one engineered system. Mechanical problems at the gate can dramatically increase the load placed on even a correctly sized operator.
AZTÖR provides a free site inspection before recommending heavy-duty swing gate automation. We assess the clear opening, individual leaf dimensions and estimated weight, gate construction, hinge geometry, structural posts, foundations, opening direction, driveway slope, wind exposure, vehicle movement, operating frequency, available power and required security functions.
Wind loading is particularly important with large swing gates. A long gate leaf with solid cladding can behave like a large surface against the wind, placing significant force on the hinges, structure and operator. For this reason, motor selection should never be based on gate weight alone.
Depending on the gate geometry and duty requirement, heavy-duty automation may use suitable linear, articulated-arm, underground, hydraulic or other industrial swing gate operators. The correct arrangement depends on the leaf length, weight, hinge offset, opening angle, required cycles and surrounding environment.
For demanding commercial and industrial applications, hydraulic automation can be considered where an appropriate manufacturer system matches the gate and operating requirement. Electromechanical solutions are also available for many heavy-duty applications. The final technology is selected around the actual entrance rather than assuming one operator type is best for every heavy gate.
AZTÖR works with established gate automation manufacturers including FAAC, CAME, BFT, Nice, Benincà and other suitable commercial and industrial brands available for UAE and GCC projects. Operator selection is based on the manufacturer's documented limits together with the actual gate geometry, operating duty and site conditions.
Heavy-duty swing gates can integrate with remote controls, guard-house controls, card readers, biometric readers, keypads, intercoms and central access-control platforms. UHF long-range readers and ANPR can also be incorporated for authorised fleet, staff or visitor vehicle access where required.
Safety must account for the complete movement of each large gate leaf. Photocells, safety edges, obstacle detection, warning lights, emergency stop controls and other protective devices can be incorporated according to the entrance and risk assessment. Pedestrian routes should also be considered separately from the vehicle gate wherever practical.
AZTÖR can also inspect and modernise existing heavy swing gates. Problems may originate from worn hinges, gate sagging, damaged operators, hydraulic leakage, control-board faults, incorrect limits, defective photocells, electric-lock problems or structural movement at the posts and foundations.
Simply installing a larger motor is not a reliable solution for a gate that has become mechanically difficult to operate. AZTÖR checks the gate movement and structural condition first, then determines whether mechanical repair, automation replacement or a complete gate upgrade is required.
AZTÖR provides heavy-duty swing gate installation, automation, retrofit, repair and preventive maintenance across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, with suitable industrial and commercial gate projects supported across the wider GCC.

Heavy-duty swing gate automation must be selected around each individual gate leaf rather than only the total entrance width or nominal motor capacity. Leaf length, weight, hinge geometry, wind loading, opening angle, structural condition and operating frequency can substantially affect operator requirements. AZTÖR confirms the gate mechanics, operator, controls, locking and safety package after a free site inspection.
